Windows Live Mail - IMAP

Windows Live Mail is no longer supported by Microsoft as of January 2017, we strongly recommend using it's replacement Mail or using an alternative email client. We are no longer able to provide support on using our email accounts with Live Mail.
Windows Live Mail is a cut down free version of Outlook that Microsoft provides free via it's website. It's a basic and easy to use client that is ideal for computer novices.
Before following the below step by step guide, please find the email sent to you which contains your email settings.
1. If you don't have Windows Live Mail on your computer, download it from the Windows Live Essentials package available from Microsoft's website. Start the program and click on the 'Accounts' tab to bring up a menu like that shown in the screen grab above. From this menu choose the 'Email' option and this will open up the menu below.
2. On this menu insert your email address into the correct field and your password below. The 'Display Name' field should include the name you want to appear on the recipient's email program when you send them an email (this doesn't have to be the same as your email address). Then check the 'Manually configure server settings' box and this will take you to a new window detailing the current server settings.
3. This window will give you a number of options which allow you to set up the server settings for our mailbox. In the 'Incoming Server Information' field you should insert and keep the port number set to 993 and ensure SSL is ticked. For the 'Outgoing Server' it should also be and port number 587, the SSL option should be ticked and the 'Requires Authentication' option should also be ticked.
4. The 'Log on username' field should be filled in with your entire email address, for example Then click on the next button and your new mailbox should be successfully set up.
