Using the it’seeze website editor, you can connect your site to Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Google Tag Manager. Your site will automatically use Google’s advanced consent mode to ensure it complies with privacy laws such as GDPR.

What is consent mode?

Consent mode is a feature developed by Google to let websites inform Google whether the visitor has consented to use cookies to share their data. Advanced consent mode allows Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Google Tag Manager to collect fully anonymous data without using cookies if the visitor has not consented. Note that features that depend on cookies (for example, visitor journey tracking) will not be available if the visitor doesn’t consent to cookies.

For more in-depth details, see Google’s consent mode documentation.

How does consent mode work?

When a page on your site first loads, Google is informed that the visitor has not yet consented to use cookies. When Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Google Tag Manager are then loaded, they will only collect fully anonymous data without using cookies.

If the visitor clicks the Accept button on the cookie notice, Google is informed that the visitor has consented to use cookies, and Google will then immediately start using cookies.

If the visitor clicks on the Manage settings button instead, they can choose whether to opt in to Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies separately, and as they toggle the settings Google is informed of their new consent preferences.
