The text component, whose option icon is shown below, creates an area of text.
Text can be edited in the same way as in a word processor: click on the text to activate the cursor and then start typing. When editing text the text-editing toolbar is show at the top of the screen:
The toolbar is divided into four groups of buttons.
Clipboard
This button provides access to the clipboard.
Paste
Clicking this button will open the clipboard window.
Character formatting
These buttons format the current text selection. If no text is selected, the formatting applies to any text that is typed until the cursor is moved.
Bold
Clicking this button will toggle between normal and bold text.
Italic
Clicking this button will toggle between normal and italic text.
Underline, overline and strikethrough
Clicking this button will allow you to change text to have an underline (shortcut ControlU ), overline, or strikethrough.
Typeface
Moving the mouse over this button will allow you to choose one of the five fonts selected for your site.
Text size
Moving the mouse over this button will allow you to drag a slider to control the text size.
Text colour
Moving the mouse over this button will let you change the text colour.
Link
Clicking this button will open the link window.
Paragraph formatting
These buttons format entire paragraphs of text. If no text is selected, the formatting applies to the paragraph containing the cursor. If text is selected, the formatting applies to all paragraphs that have at least some text selected.
Bulleted list
Clicking this button will toggle bullet points for the paragraph.
Numbered list
Clicking this button will toggle numbering for the paragraph.
Alignment
Clicking this button will allow you to change the paragraph to be left-aligned, centred, right-aligned, or justified.
Increase indentation
Clicking this button will increase the paragraph indentation
Decrease indentation
Clicking this button will decrease the paragraph indentation
Letter spacing
Moving the mouse over this button will allow you to drag a slider to control the spacing between letters.
Line spacing
Moving the mouse over this button will allow you to drag a slider to control the spacing between lines of text. There are shortcuts for 1 ( Control1 ), 1.5 ( Control5 ), and 2 ( Control2 ).
Other buttons
These buttons provide access to other text-related features.
Insert special character
Clicking this button will open the special characters window.
Check spelling
Clicking this button will open the spell checker window.
