When entering addresses, customers can select countries from a drop-down field. Countries are grouped into regions, and tax rates and delivery rates are based on regions. You can configure countries by clicking Configuration in the shop management panel menu and then clicking Countries to view the country list.

The country list

The country list initially shows all of the countries in the world. The drop-down field above the list lets you filter it to show only countries in a particular region. You can click on the column headers to sort by any column. A form at the bottom of the country list lets you activate and deactivate batches of countries.

Adding a country

In some situations you may want to add additional countries — or, more commonly, subdivisions of existing countries. For example, if you need to charge more for delivery to the Scottish highlands and islands you could create an additional country called United Kingdom — highlands and islands so that you could then set up separate delivery rates. To create a country click Create new country and then edit it in the same way as described below.

Editing a country

To edit a country, click Details on the corresponding row in the country list. The country details form will be displayed, letting you change the following settings:


The name of the country, as displayed to customers.

Alpha 2 code

The ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code. These are two-letter codes (such as GB for the United Kingdom) that payment gateways use to identify countries. If you are editing a subdivision of a country, use the code for the country of which it is part.


Whether the country is active. Countries cannot be deleted as they may have been used in previous addresses, but by deactivating a country it is no longer available to use in new addresses. Note that leaving a country active does not mean you are guaranteeing to be able to deliver to it. If a customer selects a country for which you have not set up a delivery rate, they will be asked to contact you about delivery.
